Dear Robotham,

Thanks very much for yours of the 13th May, which very clearly sets out the position regarding Taub and the Vauxhall job.

I think Taub is a little bit dangerous: he is always out for something that is going to preach his own theory.

My people were up at Perkins, the Diesel people, recently, and they gave Taub an entirely free hand with one of their Diesel jobs so far as Ring and Piston design was concerned, and they said it was worse than their own.

On the other hand, I quite appreciate if we can get them to go over on to this bearing for their big ends and they would pay a reasonably fair price, it would be a very good thing to do, but for the moment I think, while of course I shall be away for a month, that our policy should be to concentrate on those people who have got to have it, such as the Diesel people, but I do very much appreciate the very clear way in which you have set out the proposition, and I am handing your letter over to Mr. Blackith.

Thanks for your good wishes.

Yours sincerely,
J W Howlett
