(a) Conversion of two 13.2 m.m. to .5 in.type machine guns.

As previously explained the 13.2 m.m. guns are obsolete having no application in M.A.P's present programme. Conversion will entail a new barrel, new feed block casting, new feed slides and pawls and modifications to the existing gun body.

The estimated cost of conversion is £100 per gun.

(b) Supply of Spare Barrels.

The supply of 6 spare barrels is requested, the allocation being,

4 barrels to provide one spare barrel per gun which will be needed during extended trials.
2 barrels to be used for gun trials and ballistic tests during development.

The estimated cost of the 6 spare barrels is £40. per barrel.

(c) Models produced prior to manufacture of first gun.

A list of models prior to the manufacture of the first gun was given in our previous request for contract cover - reference Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Brns.1/WI.1.7.40. We wish to augment this list with the complete wooden models intended for aircraft installation purposes.

The complete list of models, therefore, is as follows:-

Initial wooden model of complete gun - drg. A.1031.
Wooden model of barrel extension - drg. CA.1047. to determine machining operation.
Steel model of buffer - drgs. CA.1026-30.
Steel model of breech block and anvil for striking velocity. experiments - drgs. CA.1016, 10K2, 33-34 and Ex.36735.
Barrel and breech proof housing to prove mechanism under firing pressure - drg. CS. 85.
Working model in steel and aluminium of feed l vers - drgs. CA.1001 15 and CA.1017 SR.
Two final wooden models of complete gun for aircraft installation.
