We are issuing a standardisation sheet for Hardened S/ZNX wheel drivers to N.Sch.4935 to prevent complaints of knocking. It has been suggested that in cases of complaint this scheme should be fitted to a customer's car. The scheme necessitates a new hub as well as a new driver. A new hub on production of the present type can be modified to the scheme, but if an old hub is modified to the new scheme it will have to be made over-size because of wear which will have taken place on the splines. In order to prevent there being two hubs and two sizes of driver, we recommend that the drawings issued to production because of this standardisation sheet should actually be on an over-size driver, together with slightly smaller splines in the hub. The drawing Ex.25109/A which ran on 6.B.IV in France would, therefore, need this slight modification when it assumes a production number.
