AJL 82066, To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} X to WOR{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c.c to DY{F R Danby} ROY{Sir Henry Royce}6/MG30.6.31 Mr. Brooker, of Price's Oil Company, writes: "In the course of correspondence with "Conduit Street on the subject of a contract for "1932, the question of our alternative for Whitmore "Compound was raised and we were told that you al- "ready approved or will be approving Castrol R for "the lubrication of the hypoid gear in the back "axle of the Phantom II Chassis. "We would recall that you have samples "from us for test for Phantom II back axles and "would add that if a Castor Oil mixture also is "acceptable our Motorine SS{S. Smith}, which used to be called "Motorine R, can be specified. "My recollection is that when this question "of the hypoid gear was first raised by your good- "selves I suggested a Castor Oil mixture, but your "people preferred if possible a match for Whitmore "Compound." and proposes to visit Derby in a week or so to discuss various questions - amongst others, the supply of a suitable Lubricant for our Hypoid Axles. I know modified Lubricants submitted by Messrs. Price in place of the Whitmore Compound have been under observation for some months, as also those submitted by Messrs. Wakefield. Possibly we can give Messrs. Price some definite information when Mr. Brooker calls. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
