ORIGINAL To R.{Sir Henry Royce} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Ey. No.5/WJ.12.2.32. K7310 P.2 GEARBOX WITH EPICYCLIC THIRD. In my report of yesterday ref: No.2/WJ.11.2.32., I omitted to mention one point where the synchro mesh box is definitely better than the gearbox with the epicyclic third. If the car is stopped at a traffic light it is necessary to get away on 2nd. speed. With the synchro-mesh there is an easy change from second to third, and from third to top. On the gearbox with the Epicyclic third there is no easy change from second to third. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
