JAPAN 3 DYNAMO.

X6005

With reference to our conference on the above when it was decided to go ahead temporarily with the present 20/25 dynamo J.3. but also look into the question immediately of an improved 3rd brush machine midway between the 20/25 and 40/50.

We now confirm that the two immediate experiments we might try with a std 40/50 dynamo are:-

(a) increasing the section of copper in the armature conductors.

(b) Try slightly less cross section poles in order to get more field ampere turns.

With regard to (a) the cutting in point should be slightly later but as the 40/50 is much better than the 20/25 we shall not be compromising much.

Experiment (b) will shew whether we are anywhere near the pole saturation limit of polar flux density.

We should be glad therefore if By/RD will arrange to look into the question and instruct accordingly.
