Letter to a supplier regarding design points for locks on the Myth rear door.

For the attention of Mr. Spicer.

Dear Mr. Spicer,

Confirming our telephone conversation on Saturday morning with reference to the locks for the Myth rear door, there are one or two points which need attention :-

(1) The follower as shown on your Drawing EXP.6415, will foul the glass run when the bolt is withdrawn. We find that the follower moves through approximately 40° when the bolt is withdrawn, therefore the follower should be inclined 20° down from horizontal when in lock position.

(2) No wearing plate is shown between the lock plate and the bolt, but I understand that you are having one fitted. As you will see by our Drawing MB.146, there is only 11/16" from the lock face to the glass run, so that this may possibly restrict the thickness of the wearing plate.

(3) We should like to keep the length of all striking plates the same, and this will be affected by the position of the lock bolts. We find that the striking plates will have to be shortened approx. 5/32" due to the lock having to be fixed away from the inside of the inner panel to accommodate the raised head screws in the lock, but before giving you a definite dimension for this, we should like to get the design of both locks settled so that we can give correct dimensions.

(4) It appears that by fixing the inside handle in the centre of the rear door, we are running into quite a lot of cranking and bending the remote control
