Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 8 To All Officials, Superintendents & Foremen. Below is copy of a letter from the Commanding Officer of one of the R.A.F. Squadrons, which I have pleasure in bringing to your notice :- "I am writing this short note on behalf of the pilots of my Squadron. We wish to congratulate you on the excellence of the Merlin IV engines, with which we consider it is our good fortune to be equipped. There is little doubt that the confidence they inspire in my crews has contributed in a very large measure towards what small success we have had on recent long distance high altitude flights. Believe me, we are more than grateful to Rolls-Royce and all those who have played their part in the creation of the Merlin. Please accept our best wishes. (Sgd.) --------- Wing Commander, R.A.F.
