Re: PETROL SUPPLIES.

With reference to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson}10/DK.6.10.39, it seems desirable that you should be aware of your facts, particularly as others may be making a similar application.

I have made this journey to Belper about 60 times since the beginning of September and I always clock more than 20 miles for the return journey. Blount's Mill, where this Division operates, is on the outskirts of Belper about 1 mile off the main road. Thus for 31 such journeys the mileage is greater than 620 miles - not 370 as stated in your note.

I should also point out that the object of the standard rationing is to cover private use of the car. The consumption of the car is approximately 20 m.p.g. on short runs and this has been the basis of calculation used.
