To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X2170 E3/MS.6.25. UNIONS - SPHERICAL TYPE. X.2170 X.8180 X.8190 In response to your enquiry concerning the above we should be glad if you would do what is necessary to push forward the standardisation of these unions. We have found the drawings and blue prints of these parts most useful for reference furing design, and as a number of these unions have been incorporated in our experimental and standard work during thepast 2 years, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} may be in a position to report on them. We believe some fault was found in the smaller sizes, that when made in gunmetal the nipples were too weak in the neck. These parts may therefore require slight revision, and where used on lubricating pipes the material should be steel. We will have another look at these drawings and let you know as soon as possible what further points, if any, require attention. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
