We give herewith a preliminary specification of new features to be incorporated in the next 10,000 miles Bentley test car. Chassis 4-B-IV is to be rebuilt to bring in the new features and will be fitted with a new four door saloon body by Park Wards. The new features incorporated in the body, to drawings EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}'s.117,118 give the following improvements:- (1) One inch wider front seats at elbow line. (2) One inch more head room. (3) Two inches more knee room for rear seat passengers. The chassis is to have the following new parts fitted for 10,000 miles test. (1) Peregrine steering. N. Sch's.3756/7, 3776,3807.✓ (2) Strengthened front axle and 3 stud pivot flange.✓ (3) Improvements to pivot top ball race - stiffer outer race - race with deeper case hardening - more and smaller diam: rollers. ✓ (4) Harrison radiator matrix - Lec.3665. (5) Modified bonnet rests on radiator side strips - Lec.3773. (6) Modified radiator shutters - unbalanced - to cure closing due to wind pressure - Lec.3798. (7) Tunnel and cover for starting handle - through radiator shutters - Lec.3807. | ||
