RE "EAGLE" ENGINES - MAGNETO DRIVE & FITTINGS - X.3048.

Will you please order up one dozen magneto driving pieces similar to drawing E.10230 in all respects except the number and gauge of the leaves of the spring, which should be as follows:-

6 of the dozen to be with leaves 34 S.W.G. (.0092")
6 of the dozen to be with leaves 29 S.W.G. (.0136")

The number of plates must be such that the overall dimension of the thickness of the plates when fitted into E.10229 and E.10236, as shown on the drawing, will come out at .576, and the overall thickness of the end of the plates is to be as shown on the drg: - .396-2

The plates on either side of the two with the turned over ends must be graduated in length from 1.175 to 1.800 as shown on the drawing.

As soon as these are delivered, they should be handed over to the experimental department, to be reported upon under the above X number - with special reference to Mr Royce's telegram of May 11th, 1917, where he asks us to use thinner plates on the magneto driving spindles.

In connection with this experiment it should be especially noted that the radius on the jaw into which the plates fit, which has always been asked for on the drawings E.10229/36, but has not always been put on by the works, should be made exactly to the drawing.

The flexibility of the above should be reported upon.
