-2- (5) Track radius centre line on roller inset .1587 from ends of roller, this gives a distance between track centre lines of .845. As previously dimensioned the track centre line separation of the outer race was .792 i.e. less than that of the inner race, an obvious mistake since appreciable end play would have resulted. (6) Track radius centre line on inner race now .4175 from inner end of race. The effect of this and the previous alteration is to give a separation of the ball centres of 0.840, the original design figure. This has the effect of reducing the distance of the shoulder of the inner race from the end from .094 to .091, which I do not think should be important. (7) The altered width of the roller will alter the clearances on the assembly drawing F.89828. I believe this is the sum total of the alterations, and I hope that the new details will prove to have no other mistakes and will enable you to proceed. I am sorry that you have had all this bother over this affair. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. [Signature] Car Project Office. | ||
