We are in difficulties here with the Price's Company, the facts as I understand same being as under:

(a) When it was agreed to include Vacuum and Shell Oils in our recommendation, i.e., additional to Price's and Wakefield's, the order of recommendation was to remain unchanged, i.e., Price's, Wakefield's, and then Vacuum and Shell; and as far as I can tell the matter was discussed at Conduit Street on various occasions with Mr. Cowen (and I believe Mr. Sidgreaves) by Price's representatives.

(b) Conduit Street went Prices a copy of the Preliminary Instructions for the Running and Maintenance of the Bentley Car, in which this order was adhered to.

(c) Now the Bentley Instruction Book is issued, Messrs. Price draw our attention to the fact that Wakefield's CASTROL has been placed first in the recommendation and Price's second.

(d) On taking up the matter with BY/Mr. Walker, we are advised - to our surprise we must confess - that he changed the order on instructions received from Mr. Hancock.

Can you advise, please, as we are somewhat at a loss to reply to Prices.

ROY{Sir Henry Royce}
