Road clearance, chassis design, and comparison with competitor vehicles.

| (2) suitable features forged on, but I believe it was chiefly condemned by Derby because of road clearance, and on account of complication and ultimate rattle by me. The road clearance is not important because even if damaged it would not be serious, and it is not in a dangerous place, and not as low as the brake drums. I am somewhat surprised that so little seems to be actually done to demonstrate the possible combination of the material, springs, and dampers, and various RR. and other chassis which should be available at the Works- EAC. Northcliffe, etc. I thought much might be done with tyres and damp- ers, centre of gravity, etc. Also careful comparison of other large cars - Daimlers, Renaults, Hispanos - none of which seem to have been driven from the viewpoint of the simple and practical front axle scheme.
