Proposal to modify the steering shock damper with a bypass system to facilitate shunting.

X. 8431 X. 235 We send herewith N.sch.2356, on which is shewn a proposal for cutting out the shock damper on extreme locks so as to facilitate shunting. It will be seen that it consists merely of bye-passes opening by the piston, causing the shock damper to work under pressure only over a range of about 8 or 10º in the middle, the assumption being that steering wobbles occur almost exclusively when the car is going straight.
