May Twenty-fifth 1929. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Clarke. As arranged with Mr. Preston we are sending you by our next lorry four 6 volt Starter Batteries for test purposes. Our Works write us in this regard as follows, and we shall be glad to hear in due course the result of your tests:- "To obtain the best results, and with a view to these "tests proving to you that our batteries will stand "ill-usage, we are desirous that these instructions "should be placed before testing authority. "The batteries should be filled up with 1280 accumulator "acid, they should then be allowed to stand for 6 hours "on open circuit, and then charged for approximately "40 hours at 8 amps. When this charge is complete and "cells are gassing we recommend that the electrolyte "be thrown away and the cells be refilled with fresh acid "at a sp. {Mr Spinney} gravity of 1280. Cells should be charged for "approximately 6 hours at 8 amps., the batteries can then "be discharged and for the first three cycles we should "recommend that 100% more charge should be given, this is "taken out at the discharges. This excess charge should "prove to you that the batteries will stand the excessive "charge they experience during service." Assuring you of our best attention at all times, Yours faithfully, THE EDISON SWAN ELECTRIC CO. LTD. District Superintendent. | ||
