BRAKE SHOES.

If we are ordering brake shoe material for the last 25 chassis in 'T' series, and certainly for what we are ordering in 'U' series, we should use the new material of which samples were supplied that had extra vertical wiring to prevent the fabric moving layer over layer as the brakes were applied.

The material in question is well known to the Technical people at Ferodos, as one of the principal technical men came down in response to my request. He was shown the material moving layer over layer as the result of braking, and supplied the improved material to overcome this trouble. It is so much better, both from the point of view of not moving, and better brakes, that we certainly ought to have it without delay.

It is the material described by them in their letter of October 23rd, addressed for my attention, their reference FLH/WAC.
