| To .. C. Bentley V's. With reference to your recent enquiry as to the possibility of completing further Bentley-V cars, will you please note as follows: There are being stored at Hythe Road: (1) 4 Corniche chassis. As you know, these differ substantially from the standard and consequently I assume you are not at the moment interested in them in connection with what you at present have in mind. (2) Complete car No. B-24-AW reserved for Mr. Devereux. (3) Incomplete chassis No. B-30-AW mounted with an incomplete body by H.J.Mulliner & Co. of Chiswick. (4) Incomplete chassis Nos. B-28-AW, [STRIKETHROUGH]B-36-AW[/STRIKETHROUGH] and B-38-AW. (5) 6 chassis in very early stages, Nos. B-V-20 to B-V-25 inclusive. (6) 5 Wood and Aluminium bodies by Park Ward & Co. These, as you know, are similar in design to the standard steel body. In regard to the incomplete Mulliner bodied car, B-30-AW, referred to in item 3 above, Mulliner cannot, under existing conditions, do any further work on the body, but Park Ward & Co. would be willing to finish it off if so desired. In addition, they would be prepared to mount some or all of the 5 wood and aluminium bodies built by themselves and referred to in item 6 above, which at the moment are framed and panelled. But as things are Park Ward cannot give any reliable idea of how long it would take them to finish off a car or cars, because of the difficulty of obtaining parts from outside suppliers, and because of the small number of men whom they can spare to work on cars, and who are willing to do so. If you do not like the idea of P.W. & Co. finishing off the Mulliner body on B-30-AW, or if you would prefer, rather than to have this body finished off by them, to have the chassis mounted with a P.W. wood and aluminium body, this could be arranged. Attached I give lists of the parts missing from chassis Nos. B-28-AW; B-30-AW; B-36-AW and B-38-AW. | ||
