Contd. -2- EFC1/T14.3.21. system which are not already included in the above, these units being as follows :- 1. R.R. switchbox with combined ammeter. 2. R.R. distribution board. 3. R.R. combined ignition switch, inspection lamp socket and press button for instrument light. 4. R.R. tail lamp plug. block. We shall be glad if Mr. Rodman will arrange to obtain the necessary drawings of these items from Mr. Bailey's Dept. with this end in view. With regard to the R.R. electrical system, it is undecided at the moment as to whether dynamos of outside or R.R. make be used. In either case it is proposed that the dy{F R Danby}-namo shall be one of the inherently regulated type, and if an R.R. dynamo, this will be of the simplest type, viz. that with the single field winding and third brush control. It is desired to make a comparison of the costs of such dynamos obtained from outside and produced in our own works. We have designs going through for R.R. dynamos, for which designs we are instructed to obtain the costs of manufacture in time for the next Derby Conference - date not yet fixed. One of these designs refers to the dynamo for the 40/50 chassis, another to that for the Goshawk chassis. It is desired to know the costs of production of these individ-ually and for this purpose will Mr. Day's Dept. kindly supply Mr. Rodman with the necessary drawings ? At the same time we are experimenting with and Contd. | ||
