137 Experimental Department 12th June 1937 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}6/AP. Dunlop Rim & Wheel Co.Ltd., Foleshill, COVENTRY For the attention of Mr.Sharpe Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter, reference KT.111, of the 11th inst. We note you say that the reason for the loose spokes in the Phantom III. wheels we sent you for inspection, is because the tyres have been run in a very slack condition. We do not know exactly what you mean by this, but should like to point out that during our French tests tyre pressures are checked every morning and have been run at pressures of 30 lbs. in front and 35 lbs. at the rear. During the whole of the running that has been done on this particular set of wheels these pressures have been maintained, except for an occasional 200 yards after a puncture We should be glad therefore if a further report could be sent us, as we cannot possibly agree with what you have said. With regard to repairing the wheels, will you please proceed as in your letter. We are asking our Order Office to send you an official order. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
