C O P Y. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} copies to :- E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Rg.{Mr Rowledge} CJ. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 3.10.23. RE. ENGINE VIBRATIONS. Very pleased with demonstration at Hammersmith last week, but I have not seen further sheets you have issued. Believe we shall get still better results with trussed or stiffened frame, when we shall have got as far as we can expect for the present and should get these improvements into demonstration and production chassis. Later, we may find good to suspend rigidly at centre of gyration and take torque by flexible supports damped by rigidity supported friction damper in suitable places. Sorry to say after visit to London I got influenza cold with neuritis and have been delayed here, so am returning home Saturday by train, and shall be pleased if you will send someone to Peterboro' on Saturday morning G.N. Station about 11 a.m. to bring 4-Goshawk-11 to Derby for dampers and trussed frame if latter proves as I think a further advantage. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Let driver have letter to Garage for R-R 4-EX, in case I do not see driver at Station will leave it at nearest Garage. | ||
