Note from R Secret c & Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} E, C, J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} BAC engine X9770 X9940 Have not seen any tests re this engine owing to absence from home. To settle punch & vibes & power at high speed suggest tubing with suppressed large Claudel for 150HP also dummy exhaust & perhaps inlets to 3s. Try also if you value extra oil on pistons at full throttle as 40/50. Before placing this engine on Chassis have made trussed front members for both sides of engine. Hope its own chassis will be ready as quickly as we could fit this engine to any chassis, but as soon as passably good it should be placed on some chassis i.e. its own, Hawk, or 40/50.
