666a. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rml/R.8.8.39. I see that you have just about finished 15,000 miles on 30.G.VII. As this car is a prototype we want to continue running it until 3.B.50 starts its test. I do not think we will attempt to do 50,000 miles because we have got to do another test with the big engine and the modified gearbox. We shall probably do this on the 'Cresta'. With regard to the 'Corniche', the question of the directional stability of the car and the suitability of the body are more important than the actual running of miles since the major components of these cars have already completed 50,000. As soon as you are satisfied that the car is satisfactory, and the body problem has been overcome we shall bring the car back. We shall, of course, expect it to have completed 15,000 miles by then. Avons are sending out some more tyres which should be with you in about a fortnight. As soon as possible after that we shall have to finalise on what size and what type of car we want to standardise on the 'Corniche'. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
