J 4580 Expl. Dept. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/CHP.4/MJ. 8th. January 1934. Your ref: ENG/J.McC/IGJ. Messrs. Dobbie, McInnes & Clyde Ltd., 57, Bothwell Street, GLASGOW, C.2. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your letter of the 3rd. inst., enclosing your latest booklet on the "Farnborough" indicator, for which we thank you. We note your remarks re. the latest type "A" Disc Valve Unit with water-cooled cock. We should like to try one of these units on our engine, but considering that we have several of the old type units, we are anxious to be very certain that the new one would fulfill our requirements, before we purchase. Under these circumstances, we suggest that you may be willing to supply us with a type "A" Disc Valve Unit (screwed 1/4 in. gas thread), on the understanding that it will give definitely better results than the valves already in our possession. We should, of course, be quite willing for your representative to inspect the job, should the necessity arise, and to give him all possible assistance. Awaiting your favoured reply, Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
