43317 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}15/KW. 2nd August, 1934. Messrs. Lendrum & Hartman Ltd., Buick House, Albemarle Street, LONDON, W.1. Dear Sirs, We thank you for the opportunity of trying the series '40' Buick. As you will appreciate, our main interest in this car lay in the ride. Generally speaking, we were very disappointed in the suspension. We do not consider that the comfort in the back seats was superior to that of our own cars with conventional suspension. We are aware that these first cars will naturally be a compromise, and also that Mr. Olley, who is General Motors' suspension expert, does not agree with the Buick's interpretation of his scheme. However, we do not feel that we should wish to buy the car in its present condition. We shall be glad if you would cancel the car which Mr. Olley asked to be reserved for us, as he apparently has not done this. We have now got the Cadillac 16 at the Works and shall be very happy to arrange for any members of Messrs. Lendrum & Hartman to try it, at a mutually convenient time. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
