EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} ---------- X8070 BY/C17/G.22.3.26. re NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I INDUCTION PIPE & AUTOVAC UNION. ------------------------------------------ With reference to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}1/H18.3.26. we have recently strengthened the fitting on to which the cap nut is screwed by reducing the size of the hole through the centre, also we have staggered the four small holes which are drilled through from the outside. If fibre washers are used as intended, it is impossible for the cap nut to screw down on to the fitting, and we consider that there is sufficient clearance to allow for a slight compression of these washers. We consider that the above alterations will materially strengthen the pieces, when we think that you will experience no further trouble. BY/C. | ||
