Replying to your Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/CM.30/IB.25.11.35., we have examined the dynamo in question and find that this machine is one of the earliest type of 40/50 dynamos, being completed in March 1927. A considerable improvement could be made in the output of the machine but it would be extremely costly, for instance the modifications would be :- (a) replace the existing brush gear with narrow brushes. (b) replace the existing armature with one of the early 5o segment type arranged for clockwise rotation. It will be seen therefore that the cost of the modifications to get the output desired would be almost as much as providing a new dynamo and we leave it to you to suggest to the customer whether he has this modification carried out or is willing to have a new dynamo fitted of our latest type which in any case would give a considerably better output than even the existing dynamo modified as above.
