Re: LUBRICATING OILS FOR FRANCE

As you may be aware we have been trying to get down to a grade of oil which we can fully recommend for our cars in France. For some time acting upon the advice from Works, we have been using "Wakefields KL" but unfortunately two rather bad pistonseizures have led us to doubt the absolute suitability of this oil.

London run a scheme with Prices'oil which is rather lucrative, and we are anxious to consider the money making proposition while at the same time giving a thoroughly good oil.

We have gone into the matter of importing Prices'oils to France, but the deeper we go into this proposition the less attractive it becomes, owing to storage handing etc..

You remember when you were in Paris some time ago, I spoke to you about probability of getting an oil blended in France to suit us, and get you you to tell Mr.Nobel exactly what was wanted.

Acting upon your information he has prepared two oils samples of which I gave Mr.Haldenby for you, which are identical with Prices'oils: "Motorine C" and "Amber Gear Oil".

The "Engine oil" is a compound oil and contains 3.5 % of thick Colza, Viscosity F 50 9.4. This corresponds exactly to Messrs.Prices Motorine "C".

The "Gear oil" is a pure mineral oil of a viscosity of at E 50 13.6.

Kindly let me know what you think of these oils, and if your opinion we could safely recommend these oils to our customers.

Ps. B
I am sending you a copy of my report to Sq. which explains our situation here regarding Prices.
His remarks are "I favour your scheme if works approve of the oil samples of which you have sent them"
Let me know as early as possible on any alterations you would suggest to the specification.
Do you want a large quantity for testing? I hope not - as this will delay matters. B.
