X7770 To OY1 from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/LG 19.7.27. We are sending you 12-EX to replace 8-EX car. We have been running 12-EX with the shock absorbers set single acting with 100 lbs. loading in the downwards direction to approximately reproduce your Lovejoy conditions in America. The results were so distressing from the point of view of pitching and riding qualities that we have altered the rear dampers back to standard otherwise we feel we might have spoilt your holiday. We send you herewith a preliminary report on steerings which explains some of the joggle difficulty. We do not like Isovis oil at all. In the car you will find a small tin containing a quantity of this lubricant. If sufficiently enthusiastic, you might try the actual effect created by the use of this oil on 12-EX. At present the steering box is filled with Prices Motorine 'B'. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is off ill, otherwise you would have had the car yesterday.
