I am quite in agreement with the broaching of the big end of the connecting rod as suggested in yours of the 12th. I think it would be quite a good thing to push through a smooth broach for the finish. Many years ago we used to do this with white metal dynamo bearings. The broach mentioned has really a hardened ground and polished mandrill of a suitable size. In reading your memo it suggests that the rods are .00725" over the size of the crankshaft, that is you fitted them up with 7 1/2 thous. clearance. [Signature] R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
