Dear Mr. Grylls,

Many thanks for your letter reference Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}7/R of the 14th April.

I am sending the filter you kindly forwarded down to our Laboratory for examination and agree that its appearance is most peculiar.

In the meantime I would be interested to know whether the engine concerned has been operated on leaded-fuel, or whether there is any other exceptional condition which would guide us in making investigations.

Yours truly,
VACUUM OIL COMPANY LIMITED.
