To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} - 2 - (7) Engine stopped, no sign of boiling of petrol in the filter, but upon restarting the engine a small stream of petrol is drawn down together with a host of bubbles, then the vapour in the filter bubbles back again up the pipe line to the petrol tap. This goes on for several seconds, the engine meantime fluttering. (8) Whilst carrying out these tests it was noticed that the air temperature quickly rises under the bonnet upon stopping the engine . 5 to 10° in a minute. We are still carrying out tests the result of which we will let you have later. RE EXHAUST We have fitted the front expansion box sent out. The movement of the exhaust pipe at junction of front expansion box is 3/32 vertical with the full movemnt of the engine under load. We have fitted the soft rubbers to the rear anchorage and tail pipe and springs to the front anchorage. The engine is held by the pedal shaft, the same as yours. CARBURETTER We note your remarks on the petrol consumption. This will have attention. - - - - - - - - The other items we have noted. G.W.Hancock. G.W.H. | ||
