To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from ROY{Sir Henry Royce} c. to RG{Mr Rowledge} c. to BY RECEIVED 12 MAY 86-000. ROY{Sir Henry Royce}9/MG11.5.32 Aero Plugs Under existing arrangements we fit Lodge Plugs, and Lodge Plugs exclusively, to our various Aero Engines. The K.L.G.Company have now offered to supply a proportion of our requirements on preferential terms which compare quite favourably with those at present existent with Messrs. Lodge, and advise they have a provisional Air Ministry approval, as copy attached for civil aircraft; and I understand we have advised the Air Ministry such K.L.G.Plugs, in our opinion, are suitable for "Kestrel" and "Buzzard" Engines. I suggest it would be wise to give the K.L.G people a portion of our business, and so have an alternative source of supply, and in addition avoid the possibility of one firm of Plug makers creating a monopoly. Is there any objection to such a course? If not, I propose we give K.L.G and order for, say, two gross of the K.L.G.V7 type Plugs; issue them to the Production Departments generally; and feel our way.
