COPY Ref: 165463/32/RDE3. Air Ministry London W.C.2 15th February, 1932 K.L.G. Sparking Plugs, Type V.9 Gentlemen, I am directed to inform you that a satisfactory report has been received as the result of a type test of the K.L.G. V.9 sparking plugs on Rolls Royce and Buzzard engines. This type of sparking plug has also been tested on Kestrel engines in the air with satisfactory results, and provisional airworthiness approval is therefore granted for the use of this type of sparking plug on Rolls Royce, Buzzard and Kestrel engines for civil aircraft. In order to obtain full airworthiness approval it will be necessary for this type of plug satisfactorily to complete the laboratory tests laid down in Specification E.E. 141, and for this purpose it is desired that you will submit 6 sample plugs to the Air Ministry at an early date. As you are aware, it is considered that the K.L.G. V.7 type of plug will be quite satisfactory for use on Rolls Royce, Buzzard and Kestrel engines in service, and it is desired to avoid, if possible, introducing the additional type V.9 on Service engines. I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient Servant, (signed) G.Bulman. Assistant Director/R.{Sir Henry Royce} D.E for Director of Technical Development Messrs. K.L.G.
