X1775. W/Paris. To Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/KT.21.9.33. Dear Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}, Sorry I have not answered your Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}7/Dn5.9.33. before, but I have been snatching another bit of holiday. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} tells me that he has settled your insurance troubles. With regard to new features which will be on our cars at the Motor Show, I believe you are familiar with most of these. There is not really very much new. There is the new air intake and exhaust silencer of the resonant type, silent second speed with a dog change, increased front braking with ribbed drums, and new radiator on the continental models which is of the film type and is 15% more efficient than anything we have previously fitted. With regard to the 20/25 here again we have a new radiator and air silencer for carburetter. I think the filler cap will be improved on Show cars so that petrol will not be spilled over the coachwork. The front axle is fitted with axle control as on the Phantom; this permits of increased front braking and actually the percentage of front braking has been increased. New type of shock absorber has been fitted to the 20/25 which permits of a much harder setting than the old type. The actual setting when the car leaves the works will be no harder than at present, but if we get a customer who requires a 'hard board' ride, we shall have no difficulty in giving it to him. We are circulating a Depot Sheet explaining the idiosyncrasies of the new damper. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
