To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 7/MJ.14.3.31. X5005. JAPAN 111 ENGINE MOUNTING. As you will observe from our recent tests we have been finding that we get considerably less boom on cars with front engine feet instead of rear engine feet. The added advantage of front engine feet is that we believe the inertia of the engine helps us with steering. We mention this so that you can, if possible, avoid being committed to rear engine feet. In any case the rear engine feet will not help the spare wheel carriers very much because with the Diamond engine mounting we have to have the most flexible rubber if we are to get the benefit of it. We presume that you will endeavour to give us torque reaction dampers in conjunction with front engine feet. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
