Subframes on Phantom 11.

It was agreed that the next three Phantom 11 bodies which are ordered for Company's cars shall be made without subframes.

Phantom 11 Starter.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} raised the point as regards the failure of the Phantom 11 starter during the very cold weather. He. pointed out that the investigations had shown that the failure was due to excess oil. This was very difficult to avoid, the starter being connected to the central lubrication. Tests were being made taking this off the Bijur system. The point was also raised that the starter gear ratio could, with advantage, be lower. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} stated that a scheme was being got out for Japan 111 having a double reduction which could be applied later to Phantom 11.

Young Battery.

We have had several very favourable reports of the Young battery and it was agreed that we should purchase one and run it on the road on a car.

Japan 111.

A discussion took place as regards the cost of Japan 111 in view of the minutes from the conference held at Derby. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} considered that E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and De. should go to Derby next week and go into the question of costs with the officials at Derby and report to R.{Sir Henry Royce}
