Clan Lumsday To EJJ. Re/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}16/ML.4.3.40. CHASSIS DIVISION. EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT AT BELPER. Unit Test Beds. We have considered the preliminary layout of bed-plates, which we return, and we also attach Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}608. "Layout of Test Beds" - which represents the way in which we would like the job doing, together with the following notes. We consider that the 'form-in-line' arrangement which you submitted, is impracticable because:- (a) It will not allow storage space for equipment and office. (b) A vertical pillar gets in the way. Practically all the tackle existing in Nos: 5 and 30 Test houses can be utilised. New bed-plates will be required, and when these have been laid, and the following jobs completed, we will release the tackle from No: 5 Test house. It is proposed that 2 engines should be running at Belper before we disturb No: 30 Test house. (1) BEDPLATES & TRENCHES. Trenches for exhausts to be deep and sloping to drains outside. To be baffled as in No: 5 Test house. Trenches for petrol, oil pipes, etc., to be shallow, but to connect up as shown on our drawing, to the deep trenches. - Continued - | ||
