re. 7-LF. Major Victor Walker.

With reference to your CWB9/GM/10.12.27.
attention has been given to this car by the Repair Dept.
as arranged at the Conference at the Midland Hotel on the
14th. inst.

I have today tested this car and certainly take
the view, that the "engine knock" although not cured,is
certainly less noticeable than when it arrived at the Works
and also when I tried it in London.

The knock, such as it is, has been constant, and
judging by my conversation with you and Bt.{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} I should now
consider that in this respect we should have no further
trouble from the customer.

I still hold the view, however, that the car is
disagreeable when riding on the front seats, and the noises
and vibration of the engine are very much amplified by the
body fitted.

The chief trouble I think comes from the scuttle
and this should be given attention in a similar way as was
done on Mr. Bell Scott's trials car, on which we understand
considerable improvement was effected.
For instance, I notice that the guard inside the
scuttle is made of metal, which should be replaced with
leather. The panels of the scuttle should also be"damped".

The body we notice is a Hooper type body, which
we have found by previous experience have always been the
most troublesome in this respect.

We certainly feel there is nothing further we can
do in this respect at present as regards the chassis, and
therefore I have agreed to pass same, especially in view of
the fact that we understand it is essential for the car to
be returned to the customer by Thursday next.

The steering had attention, but we are not yet
satisfied with same, and further attention will be given to
this by the Repair Dept.
