CONFIDENTIAL. Chassis To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} c. to Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} c. to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} 800 BENTLEY 50. With reference to Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner}/1/GAB. 29.12.43. addressed to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re. two defects on the Silver Ripple. After a telephone conversation with Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} we find the car referred to was 3.B.50. We have weighted the car down on to its Buffers and find that by slightly lifting the front of the car, which is equivalent to a small gradient, the overriders on the rear bumper bar are the first points to contact the ground. The rear end of the tail pipe at this point only has a 1/4" ground clearance, as does the rear cross member which carries the rear spring shackles and the petrol tank straps. With regard to the loss of petrol when filling, we have experienced no difficulty whatever with the petrol pump we have at the Clan Foundry. Can Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} say if he has experienced any difficulty with outside petrol pumps Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} | ||
