X8430 BY/HSB. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY8/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 3. 3. 25. E.A.C. STEERING. It is pretty certain now that the Experimental Dept. do not intend to go to the steering box with roller bearings. The scheme they will most probably adopt is flanging the two levers in the box upon which the rocking shaft is operated, carrying a flange on the rocker shaft just in the middle, approximately .250" thick, and bolted securely together with taper bolts. The bore of the two half-levers operated by the nut would be a good fit on the shaft, size and size, with a plus or minus ½ limit. We should also bring in the bearing bushes for the pendulum lever shaft, in accordance with the scheme I arranged previously. The best thing to do is to get out the whole scheme as instructed by Mr.Clough, and submit it to either Mr.Clough or myself. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
