Dear Sirs, With regard to the pair of Hypoid gears for the Science Exhibition. They are a pair of gears 8/34 ratio, 10" diameter crown wheel and 45 pinion helix angle, the amount of hypoid being .850". The present state of the gear teeth is due to continued running on an oil of insufficient load carrying capacity. They operate at a normal top gear torque of 350 lbs/ft. and a maximum 1st. speed torque of 950 lbs/ft. The pinion is straddle mounted. We hope from this information you can compile the necessary description. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
