C.J. and Mr. Barrington. 24/9/10 x 1099 RG{Mr Rowledge}/D24910 With reference to Mr. Barrington's report of the 19th. inst. (attached), I believe the De Dion oil to be a good hydro carbon oil of mineral origin only; that is, it contains no animal or vegetable fats. I think some animal or fatty matter is needed. (I believe the British Government specify 6% for internal combustion engines on submarines). Reducing the wear to a minimum and leaving the engine smooth to turn after a long, hard pull is a good sign, but we have not yet found anything better than Prices B for summer use and C for winter use. Is Mr. Barrington sure that we have had long enough to tell if the carbon deposit is the same? Prices should be informed that the test we require should be for the carbon deposit left in the cylinders, rather than | ||
