Messrs. John Marston Ltd.,
Wolverhampton.

For the attention of Mr. Southall.

Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your letter of the 24th inst., for which we thank you.

We note your remarks re the price of the Mark III and Mark V matrices. We do not see any reason, however, why we need to stick to the tinning of the centre indirect strip on the 58 m.m. matrix. It should be possible to get effective thermal contact on this depth of matrix without this. We should like to know how the omission of this tinning would affect the price of this matrix.

If Mr. Southall will suggest a convenient date for his visit, we shall be pleased to discuss these points with him.

We thank you for the comparative curves of the Mark VI and Gallay matrices. You might be interested to hear that Messrs. Gallay state that to obtain optimum results, a much higher water flow (approx. 75% greater) is required with their type of matrix than with your own Mark VI block. If this is so, of course, the figures for same water flow are not strictly comparable.

We should like you to give us the cross sectional area of the water-ways on our Bentley (58 m.m.) 20/25 HP. (58 m.m.) and Ph.III (84 m.m.) radiator matrices, and on your test blocks, in Mark V and Mark VI blocks.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
