Dear Mr. Jones,

I am sorry I have not answered your letter before but the tests on various 'EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}' oils are only just finished.

Our findings as regards corrosion are based on the amount of deposit formed after 24 hours' immersion at 120°C. These measured in milligrams per square centimetre of surface are

H.G.L. GX.
Phosphor Bronze 20 24
Alum bronze 0.9 2.1
Mild Steel 0.004 0.12
Stainless Steel Stain 0.03

"Hi-Press" gives figures about one fifth of those for GX.

We find GX to contain 1.85% of Sulphur Chloride which, in our opinion, is unnecessarily high.
