Z 547 October 27th 1911 N4/L271011 Ref 66(4) Re Chassis 1498 Mr. De Looze 27-10-11 With reference to the above, Mr.Haldenby would receive instructions some time ago to the effect that all bearings having pressed cages fitted in the gear box, should be replaced by bearings having cast bronze cages. The instructions did not apply to road wheel hubs. It should be noted that one of these bearings has a cast bronze cage, and is in excellent condition. Under these circumstances "N" should be charged with this bearing, which is useless to us and "W" will be willing to bear the cost of the other three. In future the bearings in road wheel hubs having pressed cages need not be changed. It is, however, of the greatest important that they should be changed if fitted in the gear box.
