X1104 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/KW. 12th September,1935. A.C.Bertelli, Esq., Messrs. Aston Martin Ltd., Feltham, Middlesex. Dear Bertelli, I hope all your cars got back safely after the T.T. I wonder whether you would like to help us over some brake drum tests we are doing on the test rig. If you could lend us a 14" drum of the composite variety i.e. a steel liner in an aluminium outer, we could fit it to our rig and find the relative value of this type of drum and the all-steel drum as regards cooling. We can easily make an adaptor so that your drum fits our hub, and we now know sufficient to allow for any difference in weight which exists between the aluminium drum and the steel drum. We will let you know what results we get. Tresilian and myself are looking forward to our next dinner party, so please let us know when you feel like a run to Towcester. Yours sincerely, | ||
