To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} X307 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}11/KW. 24.5.35. Re Mounting of Continental Saloon 32-EX. We give below a list of the troubles encountered in mounting the above body :- (1) Scuttle Shape. This we found to be .25" high on the shoulders. In order to make this fit we removed the bonnet rest angle and filed the dash to suit, afterwards refitting the bonnet rest. (2) One of the body supports on the rear wheel arch was toed in, a taper packing piece was specially made to suit. (3) The body packings were still too thick, the question of fitting the body brackets higher stands investigating. (4) Running Boards. No allowance has been made for the sweep of the front mudguard. The front step irons have required a 3" packing block either side. (5) The tail supporting brackets were 1.5" forward on the body. (6) It was necessary to remove and lower the scuttle ventilator, no provision having been made for air to enter into the body. (7) Alterations are required to the drawing of the bonnet sides to enable coachbuilders to screw the wing sides into same. (8) The sunshine roof will not remain locked in the closed position, also this portion of the roof rattles badly. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.Dodd. | ||
