SALOMON PATENTS.

In connection with the matter of the Salomon patents for oscillating balance weights, we have recently been informed by the Bristol Co. that they have taken a sub-licence for this device as the result of recent negotiations.

The patent rights have been admitted now by the Curtiss Wright Company of America, but apparently there is at least one big French Company of engine manufacturers still standing out, so that the patent position is not yet perfectly clear.

I have informed the Salomon Company that we have this matter under consideration but in any case we should not take action until the patent position has been cleared up. At the same time I have asked them if they have made any practical application of the floating balance weight to an engine with a six throw crankshaft, and with what results.

I am dictating this brief resumé of the aero position so that you may be informed where we stand with relation to the Salomon Company, and to decide what action you wish to take, if any, in respect to the car engines.
